課程概述 |
The main theme of this course is to studying the critical states of certain geometric functional. The main tools that will be introduced in this course are global analysis and geometric PDE’s (elliptic). The main part of this course will be from the book by Moore on geodesics and minimal surfaces. If time permits, we will also do some more harmonic maps. |

課程目標 |
Understand the machinery from analysis for studying Euler—Lagrange equations in geometry. |

課程要求 |
Riemannian geometry, in particular, geometry of submanifolds. Some familiarity with algebraic topology would be helpful, but not required. |
